Moving?

Might be moving online life to tumblr and my own server.  It's butt ugly at the moment, but I like the quickness of it.  Having my own domain will allow me to also add a wordpress or expression engine site for other projects.  I might still use Vox though.

Via boingboing.  However, it does recycle the water from the washer to the toilet, not the other way around thankfully.

Produced by the BBC, Questionaut is a Flash designed game for eleven year olds.  Amazing and beautiful, I wish educational software was this good looking when I was a kid.

Mac Liebe: What's in my Menu Bar

Menubar
Menubar
From left to right.

- Skitch, a brillant little program to quickly snap things on screen.  The kicker is the drag file option, making it by far the easiest way to post picks, share or save for later.   In beta.
- Twitterrific, how did I miss this program.   For desktop tweets, and it looks oh so lovely.  This is a real time waster if you procrastinate.  $14.95 or one ad every hour.
- Coversutra, ah, my new favorite little app.  This is an iTunes ad-on.  It supports Growl and Last.fm - so totally worth it for me.  14.95, ouch, that's in Euros.
- Growl, somewhat hard to explain for non-Mac users.  This app shows visual updates on your desktop for all sorts of programs.  For instance Growl is tied to Twitter, CoverSutra, and Adium (not shown).  It does this so beautifully it hurts. Shows off the Core Animation in OS X.
- Quicksilver, I'm still getting use to this, people swear by it.  I don't think I'm using this to the full potential, but truthfully I like things to come easy.  I may not be the right user for this program.  I use Spotlight a lot more.
- Mozy, PC and Mac online backup.  I'm doing the free 2gb.  I've signed up for the Dropbox beta which looks great.  Does some nice syncing between multiple platforms and computers.  Ease of use is the reason I want this.  Do you hear me Drew, I want in on the beta.

The rest are Apple standard menu bar items for a laptop - Spaces, Airport, volume, power, date, Bluetooth, and Spotlight.  Each program shares an ease of use and adds to my life for the good in their own little way.  I'll give Quicksilver a few more weeks, but so far it doesn't do anything more for me than Spotlight.  And no, my desktop is not pink, that's 10.5 transparency.  Pic below.

The Way Back Machine: 1988

Good god, I can't believe this movie is twenty years old.  One of my most influential movies of all time.  If I had a redo - I'd pick up Japanese, that one summer at UCLA obviously wasn't enough. :)

The Way Back Machine: 1900

Here's a great read from 1900 in all things Ladies Home Journal, predicting what will happen in the 20th century.  Good stuff.  My favorite, "A university education will be free to every man and woman (I wish)... Etiquette and housekeeping will be important studies in the public schools (good one)."  Hey, they nailed cell phones, and we're well on our way to no wild animals.  Sad, funny, and a great reflection of the values of turn of the century America.

Link via coochicoos.  Very disturbing indeed.  Well, maybe if it tastes like chicken.  Have a kid?  The publishers are looking for submissions.  Oy, the book is going to drop into bookstores sometime later this year.
